Plaintiff Tristan Hatfield was the passenger on a motorcycle traveling up Mt. Baldy Road. Defendant Lucille Renville pulled out of a dirt turnout into the path of the motorcycle. Defendant Kathy Kilsby owned the car Lucille was driving.

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that Renville was negligent by pulling out into the path of the motorcycle.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant claimed that the dirt turnout was riddled with trenches that forced her to exit only from behind some overgrown hedges. Defendant blamed the County of Los Angeles and the City of Claremont for those alleged dangerous conditions.
