Facts

On Feb 11, 2022, at 4 p.m., a minor female, age 16, was stopped by Rialto Police Department as she rode an illegal mini-bike. The primary Rialto officer asked the minor if she was a girl or a boy. Officers then grabbed the youth and threw her to the ground to arrest her for the bike violation. On a bystander video of the incident, Officer Ivan Delgadillo can be seen choking her as she was on the ground and screaming. His body cam showed he also struck her while she was handcuffed and in the police car.

Injuries

Plaintiff suffered scratches and abrasions.

Result

The case settled for $1.5 million.
