Facts

On February 3, 2022, Roberto Lara, on behalf of himself and all other similarly situated, brought a class action against Noble House Home Furnishings LLC, alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included all non-exempt hourly employed who worked for Noble House Home Furnishings from February 3, 2018, to October 10, 2022. On March 24, 2022, a similar wage and hour class action entitled Diaz v Noble House Home Furnishings LLC was filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. On May 11, 2022, the court deemed the Diaz action related to the Lara action and designated plaintiff's lead case. Noble House estimated there were 348 class members who collectively worked 26,522 workweeks and 266 aggrieved employees. On August 11, 2022, the parties participated in an all-day mediation presided over by Stephanie So Chow of Mediated Negotiations.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff alleged that defendant failed to: pay overtime wages; pay minimum wages; provide meal periods; provide rest periods; pay all wages due upon termination; and provide accurate wage statements for its California employees during the relevant time period. Further, plaintiff contended that defendant engaged in unfair competition in violation of the Business & Professions Code.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

Result

Noble House agreed to pay $200,000 to settle all claims.
