Facts

On August 4, 2021, Glenn Sweat and Jamie Chinn, individually and on behalf of other members of the general public similarly situated, brought a class action against JKS Ventures, Inc. dba Incredible Pets, alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included all current and former hourly-paid, non-exempt employees of defendant who were employed by defendant in California from August 4, 2017, through November 4, 2022. Defendant estimated that the settlement class worked approximately 15,553 workweeks.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs alleged that defendant failed to: pay all regular wages, minimum wages and overtime wages due; provide meal periods or compensation in lieu thereof; provide rest periods or compensation in lieu thereof; reimburse necessary business expenses; provide complete accurate wage statements; and pay wages timely at time of termination or resignation for its California employees during the relevant time period. Further, plaintiffs contended that defendant engaged in unfair business practices as a result of these violations.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all contentions.

Result

JKS Ventures, Inc. agreed to pay $475,000 to settle all claims.
