Facts

On June 25, 2019, Tricia Suhartono, individually and on behalf of other members of the general public similarly situated, brought a class action against various corporations, alleging various Labor Code violations. Defendants owned and operated approximately 14 McDonald's fast-food restaurants throughout Southern California. The class included all persons who worked for defendants as non-exempt, hourly employees in California at any time from June 25, 2015, to January 6, 2021. On January 6, 2021, the parties participated in a mediation session before the Honorable Carl J. West (Retired).

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff alleged that defendants failed to: pay overtime and minimum wages, provide compliant meal and rest periods, provide non-compliant wage statements, reimburse for necessary business expenses, maintain payroll records, timely pay wages upon termination, and provide reporting time pay to its California employees during the relevant time period.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all contentions.

Result

Defendants agreed to pay $2,450,000 to settle all claims.
