Facts

While on the job for the City and County of San Francisco Department of Public Works, Paul Snow was driving a Ford F350 truck on July 23, 2020. At about 9 a.m., on 29th Avenue, he was heading southbound approaching Taraval Street. As Merrill Ferguson was crossing Taraval Street, she was hit by the Ford truck being driven by Snow. After filing a claim with the City, but obtaining no response, on November 12, 2020, Ferguson filed suit against the City and County of San Francisco and others.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that as she was crossing the street, on the crosswalk, Snow, during the course of his employment with defendant, caused her injuries.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

Injuries

Plaintiff asserted that she sustained injuries including fractures that required reconstructive surgery, a dislocated jaw, three broken ribs, tongue lacerations, knocked-out teeth, potential traumatic brain injuries, and other injuries that at the time were unknown.

Result

The City and County of San Francisco's Board of Supervisors authorized a settlement for $7.5 million.
