On September 13, 2021, Serena Jones, individually and on behalf of other members of the general public similarly situated, brought a class action against Amada Weld Tech Inc. formerly known as Amada Miyachi America Inc. The class included all hourly-paid or non-exempt employees employed by Amada Weld Tech, Inc. within California from March 5, 2017, to July 5, 2022.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant failed to: pay overtime, provide meal period premiums, provide rest break premiums, pay minimum wages, timely pay final wages to separated employees, comply with employee wage statement provisions, and reimburse business expenses. Further, plaintiff alleged that defendant engaged in unfair competition as a result of these violations.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

Result

Amada Weld Tech agreed to pay $801,427 to settle the case.
