Facts

On January 13, 2023, Oscar Arana, as an individual and on behalf of all similarly situated employees, brought a class action against Case Industries Inc., alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included any and all persons who have been employed by Case Industries, Inc. as non-exempt employees in California at any time from January 13, 2018, to December 30, 2022. The parties estimated that there were approximately 1,748 workweeks during the class period.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant failed to: pay wages, minimum wages, or overtime wages; provide legally compliant meal periods or compensation in lieu thereof; provide legally compliant rest periods or compensation in lieu thereof; provide accurate itemized wage statements; reimburse for necessary business expenditures; and pay all wages due upon separation of employment for its California employees during the relevant time periods.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.

Result

Case Industries Inc. agreed to pay $162,500 to resolve all claims.
