Facts

On June 12, 2020, Eric Galvez filed suit against Yamato Valencia Inc. and Yamato Encino Corporation seeking to represent hourly, non-exempt employees who worked for Yamato from June 12, 2016 to December 31, 2021.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff asserted the following claims: failure to pay minimum and straight time wages; failure to pay overtime compensation; failure to provide compliant meal periods; failure to authorize and permit compliant rest periods; failure to indemnify necessary business expenses; failure to timely pay final wages when separated from employment; failure to provide and maintain accurate, itemized wage statements; unfair practices pursuant to the Unfair Competition Act; claims involving unfair business practices and unfair competition laws; and also, Private Attorneys General Act violations.

Injuries

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all liability associated with plaintiff's claims, contending they have complied with all applicable laws, regulations, statutes, and wage orders.

Result

The parties agreed to settle for the gross amount of $300,000.
