Joseph Guevarra was a former Global Mail, Inc. employee. On March 29, 2021, Guevarra brought a class action against Global Mail, Inc. for alleged wage and hour violations. The class included all current and former non-exempt or hourly employees of Global Mail, Inc. that worked in California at any time from August 19, 2020, through December 31, 2021. Global Mail, Inc. estimated that there were 2,053 class members and 25,492 pay periods during the class period. On December 13, 2021, the parties participated in a full-day mediation presided over by Steve Pearl, an experienced, neutral mediator.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant failed to: pay wages and provide accurate itemized wage statements to its California employees during the relevant time period.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.
Result
Global Mail, Inc. agreed to pay $550,000 to settle the case.
