Facts

On January 20, 2022, Samyra McCrea, individually and on behalf of other members of the general public similarly situated, brought a class action against her former employers Rockridge Market Hall, LLC dba Market Hall Foods, Sara Elizabeth Wilson, Anthony Gordon Wilson, Peter Sydney Wilson dba Market Hall Foods, and Market Hall Foods, alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included all current and former non-exempt employees who have been employed by defendants at any time from January 20, 2018, through November 22, 2022. On August 12, 2022, the parties participated in an all-day mediation presided over by Michael Loeb.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff alleged that defendants failed to: pay wages and overtime wages, provide compliant meal and rest breaks, pay minimum wages, pay final wages in a timely manner, provide compliant wage statements, and reimburse business expenses for its non-exempt California employees. Further, plaintiff contended that defendants violated the Business & Professions Code related to the above alleged claims.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all contentions.

Result

Defendants agreed to pay $1.2 million to settle all claims.
