Facts
On January 5, 2023, Larry Golden filed a pro se lawsuit against Samsung Electronics America, Inc.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: The plaintiff contended that he held a family of patents that concerned locking, unlocking, or disabling a lock upon the detection of chemical, radiological, or biological hazards; that Samsung used various technologies and components in its smartphones and devices that the plaintiff contended infringed on his patents; and that he was entitled to a judgment that Samsung had infringed his patents, an injunction preventing Samsung from future infringement, and damages with pre- and post-judgment interest.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: The defendant denied any wrongdoing or liability and all the plaintiff's material allegations. Moreover, the defendant contended that Golden's claims were barred by issue preclusion due to an earlier patent infringement case between Golden and a Samsung customer concerning the exact same claims that Golden lost.
Result
The court granted the defendant's motion to dismiss with prejudice.
