On May 20, 2021, Zachary Gurzenski filed a wage-and-hour lawsuit against his former employer, Delta Air Lines Inc., in Los Angeles Superior. He sought to represent himself and those employed by Delta as non-exempt employees working in the Los Angeles International Airport's Department 120 between July 1, 2017 and June 8, 2023.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant failed to pay or reimburse business expenses, failed to pay all final wages, and engaged in unfair competition. It also included a claim for Private Attorneys General Act civil penalties.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all plaintiff's claims, contending that it properly paid all final wages, reimbursed business expenses, and complied with all applicable laws.
Settlement Discussions
On September 27, 2022, the parties participated in mediation with Steve Pearl, Esq., which led to a settlement agreement.
Result
Defendant Delta Air Lines agreed to pay $200,000 to settle all claims.
