On July 27, 2020, Luis Avila filed a complaint against Staples Inc., and others for wage-and-hour violations in San Diego Superior.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Along with other wage-and-hour claims, plaintiff alleged that defendants underpaid sick pay pursuant to the Healthy Workplace Healthy Family Act of 2014, plus underpayment of overtime wages. Plaintiff also pursued claims for violations under the Private Attorneys General Act.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all material contentions.

Result

The case settled for $300,000.
