Facts

Martha Martinez worked for National Renal Care (NRC) LLC. On September 10, 2021, she filed suit in Los Angeles Superior against NRC for wage-and-hour violations, seeking to represent those who were employed as non-exempt and/or hourly paid employees from September 10, 2017 to December 31, 2021.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff alleged that defendant violated labor laws by failing to pay overtime wages, minimum wages, and wages due upon termination and failing to provide meal periods, rest breaks and accurate itemized wage statements. Based on those same claims, plaintiff also asserted a claim for civil penalties under the Private Attorneys General Act.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendant strongly denied violating any laws or failing to pay any wages, contending it complied with all applicable laws.

Result

The case settled for $550,000.
