On December 17, 2021, Ilse Robles brought a class action against Anzar Enterprises Inc., alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included all individuals currently or formerly employed by defendant in California as hourly, non-exempt employees at any time from December 17, 2017, through November 30, 2022. Defendant estimated that Class Members collectively worked a total of 17,560 Workweeks.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff alleged that defendant failed to: properly calculate and pay overtime wages, provide compliant meal and rest periods, pay timely wages, reimburse business expenses, provide sick leave, and provide accurate itemized wage statements for its non-exempt California employees during the relevant time period.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.
Settlement Discussions
On October 20, 2022, the parties participated in an all-day mediation with Todd Smith, which led to a settlement agreement.
Result
Anzar Enterprises Inc. agreed to pay $475,000 to settle all claims.
