Facts

On September 10, 2021, April Wright, on behalf of himself and those similarly situated, brought a class action against Golden Gate Urgent Care, Inc., alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included all current and former non-exempt, hourly employees of defendants who were employed in California at any time between March 4, 2017, through December 14, 2018.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff argued that defendants failed to: pay wages, pay overtime wages, provide meal periods, provide rest periods, and provide accurate itemized wage statements for its California employees during the class period. Further, plaintiff contended that defendants engaged in unfair competition during a class period as a result of aforementioned violations.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all contentions.

Settlement Discussions

On November 1, 2021, the parties participated in a full-day mediation with respected wage and hour mediator, Tripper Ortman. After mediation, Wright named Kurt Kunzel and Mary Jane Connell as Doe Defendants 1 and 2.

Result

Defendants agreed to pay $300,000 to settle all claims.
