Facts

After Lindsey Hill accused Trevor Bauer of sexual assault, he filed suit against her and her attorney for, among others, defamation. In response, Hill counterclaimed with allegations of sexual battery and battery.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that Hill's sexual assault claims were false, and despite this misrepresentation, she and her attorney pursued those claims in order to destroy his reputation and career. A Los Angeles Superior judge rejected her claims, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney found them inadequate for pursuing criminal charges.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS: Defendant Hill contended that despite plaintiff's claims that she consented to some rough sex, that she did not consent to being repeatedly punched in the face, vagina and groin area and buttocks. Likewise, she did not consent to the significant injuries that occurred. Not only was she hospitalized, she also met with the police and during a call with defendant that was directed by the police, defendant did not dispute that he committed certain acts of violence against defendant.

Result

The case settled. Under the terms of the settlement, both parties withdrew their lawsuits. Though neither side paid the other, Hill ultimately received $300,000 from her insurance company.
