Facts

On June 13, 2022, Desiree Reyes filed suit against Parkside Lending LLC in San Diego Superior for wage-and-hour violations. Her second amended complaint added Lisa Bravatti as a plaintiff. On February 17, 2022, Jacob Reyes also filed a complaint against Parkside alleging the same general violations in San Bernardino Superior.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs contended that defendant failed to pay all minimum and overtime wages due; violated meal and rest period requirements, including the requirement to pay premiums in lieu of those violations; underpaid sick leave wages, including COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave; paid wages untimely; failed to provide accurate wage statements; failed to pay final wages timely on termination; failed to reimburse necessary expenses; and violated recordkeeping mandates. Plaintiffs also sought Private Attorneys General Act penalties.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all allegations and claims, including as to liability, damages, and all other forms of relief.

Settlement Discussions

On November 29, 2022, the parties participated in a mediation session with Tripper Ortman, which culminated in a binding term sheet for the full resolution of all claims, including those asserted by Reyes in the San Bernardino lawsuit.

Result

The case settled for $575,000.
