On July 8, 2022, former employees Candice Thompson and Elizabeth Muniz, on behalf of themselves and on behalf of all others similarly situated, brought a class action against Sunoil Retail Group Inc. dba V-Red Inc., alleging various Labor Code violations. The class included all non-exempt hourly-paid individuals who are or were employed by Sunoil Retail Group Inc. in California from July 8, 2018, through April 1, 2023. Based on its records, Sunoil Retail Group Inc. estimated that, as of the date of this Settlement Agreement, there were 170 Class Members during the class period.
Contentions
PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS: Plaintiffs alleged that defendant failed to: pay overtime wages, provide compliant meal periods, pay minimum wages, provide compliant rest periods, issue accurate and complete wage statements, timely pay wages, and pay final wages for its non-exempt California employees during the class period.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendant denied all contentions.
Result
Sunoil Retail Group Inc. agreed to pay $180,000 to settle all claims.
