Facts

On September 3, 2020, California Unified Service Providers sue Jordan Bray in Los Angeles Superior for reimbursement of the costs incurred in training her. Specifically, it alleged the following causes of action: breach of contract; open book account; work, labor, services and materials; quantum meruit; and unjust enrichment.

On November 9, 2020, Bray cross-complained against California Unified and Behavioral Cusp, alleging that cross-defendants violated wage-and-hour laws, specifically contending that cross-defendants failed to: provide meal and/or rest breaks; pay overtime and/or minimum wages properly; properly pay all wages on separation; maintain required records; provide accurate, itemized wage statements; and reimburse or provide expenditures necessary to perform duties. Accordingly, Bray also sought Private Attorneys General Act civil penalties.

Result

Denying all contentions and without admitting any liability, cross-defendants nevertheless agreed to settle given the expense and risks of litigation. The parties settled for the gross settlement amount of $450,000.
