Valerie Boyer worked as a translator and interpreter for Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. On December 29, 2020, Boyer filed a representative action against the hospital for wage-and-hour violations, including a Private Attorneys General Act claim.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS: Plaintiff contended that defendant failed to reimburse for work-related home expenses incurred, such as home internet and cell phone service, electricity expenses, plus purchases of hardware necessary to perform their duties during the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent stay-at-home orders.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS: Defendants denied all material contentions, asserting they complied with applicable laws.

Result

The case settled for $300,000.
