Facts

The case involved a traffic collision on the I-5 freeway in Los Angeles. Defendant Gurjinder Singh Dhaliwal was a truck driver who operated a tractor-trailer who made a lane change and collided with plaintiff's 2020 Mercedes. SD Trucks LLC employed Dhaliwal.

Injuries

Plaintiff underwent conservative treatment for neck and back pain, followed by a cervical disc replacement surgery that he attributed to the incident, and had approximately $400,000 in lien-based treatment.

Result

Verdict for plaintiff for $70,000. ($10,000 for special damages and $60,000 for general damages).

Other Information

Since the verdict was less than defendants' last CCP 998 Offer, and the recoverable costs exceed the verdict award, a monetary judgment will be entered in defendants' favor. Plaintiff has filed a motion for a new trial.
