On August 30, 1991, Plaintiff, a 9-year-old deaf girl, had just completed a swimming lesson when she jumped into the deep end of the pool. Not yet able to swim, she had a near drowning experience. The lessons took place at the Defendant city pool, staffed with Defendant's instructors.
