On June 25, 1992, Plaintiff, a 32-year-old German national, was visiting Defendant's hotel in Laguna Beach. Plaintiff struck her right knee on the sliding glass door when she attempted to walk outside on the balcony and failed to realize the door was closed. The door was made from untempered glass, in violation of the Uniform Building Code.

Plaintiff contends they demanded $75,000 and Defendants made no offers.
