Facts
In April of 1986, Plaintiffs' decedent presented to Defendant hospital with complaints of pain in the back, hip, and groin. Diagnosis of groin pull was made and pain killers and anti-inflammatories were given. In May 1987, the patient again presented to Defendant hospital with the same complaints; a diagnosis of reaggravation of a groin pull was made with the same medication given. From May 1988 to March 1990, the patient experienced recurring pain, but sought no treatment. On April 2, 1990, the patient again presented to Defendant hospital with visible swelling in the groin; he was placed on Ibuprofin for groin pull. By April 17, 1990, he was in intense pain and went back to Defendant hospital; non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, advanced with metastatic spread to organs was diagnosed and chemotherapy was instituted. Plaintiffs' decedent died on February 9, 1991; he was a 40-year-old part-time roofer and was survived by his wife and children.
