On March 4, 1993, Plaintiff Teresa Torrero Chavarin, a 28-year-old housewife, was driving when her vehicle was struck in a rear end collision by Defendant Maurice Gonzales II, a Defendant City of San Diego truck driver. Plaintiff Martha Chavarin, a 44-year-old housewife, was a passenger in Teresa Torrero's vehicle. The City of San Diego admitted liability.

Settlement Discussions

Defendant contends that they offered $12,700 before the lawsuit was filed reduced to $10,000 at the settlement conference and that Plaintiff demanded $20,000.

Injuries

Plaintiff Martha Chavarin also claimed ear pain and intermittent pain and residual range of motion limitations related to her shoulder. Plaintiff Teresa Torrero also claimed numbness, tingling, and weakness in one arm as well as residual intermittent headaches.
