On March 4, 1992, Defendant's truck struck Plaintiff Martin Sanchez's automobile in a rear end collision on the I-91 Freeway in Long Beach. Defendant Carlos Alfaro was driving Defendant Harper Industries' truck in the course and scope of his employment delivering furniture. Plaintiffs Maximinia Frias, a 30-year-old unemployed female, Maria Hernandez, a 34-year-old cold food packer in an airline food kitchen, and Armando Leyva, a 21-year-old male (occupation unknown) were passengers in Sanchez's vehicle.
