Facts
In late July and early August of 1991, Goldstreet Holdings, Inc., an export/import business, allegedly deposited Mitsubishi Visitel telephones in Defendant Advertising Analysis' warehouse. Goldstreet Holdings, Inc., was operated by Randall Slavin; the corporation's claims were assigned to his wife, Plaintiff Shereen Slavin. On October 7, 1991, Defendant notified Plaintiff of an alleged burglary at the warehouse and claimed that 728 units of Plaintiff's merchandise were stolen.
Settlement Discussions
Plaintiff-in-Intervention contends that it and Plaintiff collectively demanded $475,000 and that Defendant offered $275,000.
Damages
$1,535,473 for fair market value of lost or stolen goods.
Result
On April 12, 1995, the Court granted in part Defendant Advertising Analysis' Motion for Judgment Notwithstanding the Verdict and Motion for New Trial. The Court granted Advertising Analysis' Motions to the extent that they related to the jury's verdict in favor of HSC, and denied the motions and left the Judgment in favor of Plaintiff in the amount of $1,090,000.
