Facts
Plaintiff Michael J. Marks, a 49-year-old accounting specialist, was a more than 20-year employee with Defendant Loral Aerospace Corporation and its predecessor Ford Aerospace Corporation when he was terminated on August 7, 1992. At the time of his termination, Plaintiff was the administrator of the home purchase program and was on the corporate finance staff. The Defendant's corporate finance staff was substantially eliminated during the Spring of 1992; as a result, the staff members being eliminated sought positions with one of the operating divisions. Plaintiff failed to obtain a position with one of the operating divisions.
Settlement Discussions
Defendants contend they offered, early in the case, to re-employ Plaintiff in a comparable position in a different geographic location, but that Plaintiff rejected this offer; prior to trial, Defendants made no offer and Plaintiff demanded between $600,000 and $800,000.
