On June 10, 1993, the plaintiff, a 38-year-old unemployed woman, was a patient in the defendant mental hospital when she slipped and fell in the shower stall after taking a shower. The plaintiff had previously undergone a lumbar fusion which broke after her fall. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant mental hospital based on premises liability and negligence theories of recovery.
