On Oct. 17, 1995, the plaintiff, a 72-year-old retired woman, was driving southbound on Del Avion in Laguna Niguel. She was in the process of making a left-hand turn at the intersection of Del Avion and Bear Brand Road, pursuant to a green light, when she was struck broadside on the passenger side of her vehicle by a vehicle operated by the defendant. The plaintiff claimed that the defendant ran a red light. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence theories of recovery.
