On July 11, 1995, plaintiff Celeste Orkin, an 85-year-old retiree went to the L.A. County Museum of Art with her two daughters. The plaintiff walked towards a sculpture entitled "Back Seat of a 36 Dodge" which was situated on a six-inch tall platform. She tripped, falling to her hands and knees. The plaintiff brought this action against the county of Los Angeles based on premises liability and negligence theories of recovery.
