On July 26, 1995, the plaintiff, a 23-year-old bartender, was executing a left-hand turn at an intersection controlled by a three-phase traffic light when the defendant entered the intersection from the opposite direction on a late-phase yellow/early-phase red traffic light and broadsided the plaintiff's turning vehicle. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence theories of recovery.
