From 1985 to 1993, plaintiff Maia McGehee, a 40-year-old investment adviser, was employed by defendant BTS/Bonding Timing Inc. In September 1993, the plaintiff was terminated after she refused to state her intentions with respect to taking a new job in the defendant company's Boston office. The company had decided to close the California opearation where the plaintiff was employed. The plaintiff was given 11 days to make up her mind whether to accept the transfer to the East Coast. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on breach of contract and sex discrimination theories of recovery.
