On Aug. 25, 1995, the defendant was traveling southbound on Magnolia Ave. in Long Beach at approximately 30 mph at the intersection of 6th St. and Magnolia. The sun was in the defendant's eyes and she continued through the intersection without seeing the traffic signal. While in the intersection, she realized that the traffic light was red for her direction of travel. She collided broadside with a vehicle operated by the plaintiff, a 59-year-old warehouseman. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence theories of recovery.
