Facts
The plaintiff, a 24-year-old cashier for the defendant retail store, claimed that between November 1994 and February 1995, she was verbally sexually harassed by the defendant salesman, her supervisor. The plaintiff alleged that when she reported the sexual harassment to the defendant store manager, the store manager failed to do anything. Two weeks later, the plaintiff reported the alleged harassment to the defendant investigator at the defendant store's corporate heaquarters. The next day, the defendant investigator came to the store. Following a brief investigation, the plaintiff was fired, allegedly for theft. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendants based on sexual harassment, retaliation, failure to prevent discrimination, breach of employment contract, intentional infliction of emotional distress and defamation theories of recovery.

The plaintiff made a C.C.P. º998 settlement demand for $56,000. The defendants made no settlement offers.
