From July 22, 1987, to March 1992, plaintiff Anita Nelson, a 37-year-old pricing analyst senior, was employed by defendant Hughes Electronics (sued as Hughes Aircraft Company). At the time she was laid off, she had a position in the finance department of the defendant's Electron Dynamics Division. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on breach of contract and employment discrimination theories of recovery.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a settlement demand for $800,000, which was lowered to $300,000 during jury deliberations. The defendant made a C.C.P. º998 offer of compromise for $75,000.
