On Dec. 5, 1996, plaintiff Leticia Pangilinan, a 68-year-old homemaker, was crossing Redwood Street in Vallejo with her granddaughter. The plaintiff crossed three lanes and was struck by defendant Thomas Sharples' vehicle in the fourth lane. The defendant was traveling approximately 24 mph when he applied the breaks. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence.
