Facts
On Feb. 6, 1998, Carolyn Campbell, a 54-year-old woman, was walking along a sidewalk. As she approached the defendantÆs property, Gwenthalyn Dillard and Maisha DillardÆs two big dogs were loose and began barking at her. The decedent defended herself with an umbrella. After about five minutes of Carolyn Campbell fending off the dogs, she stepped off the curb, into the street and was struck by an automobile driven by Ernest Buck.
Carolyn Campbell died on March 5, 1998, as a direct result of the multiple traumas she suffered when she was struck by BuckÆs automobile.
Defendant Dyanthalyn Scorza owned the property, Gwenthalyn Dillard, ScorzaÆs sister, was the leasee and tenant of the property on the date of the incident.
The plaintiffs, the decedentÆs adult children, brought this action against the defendant.
