On July 9, 1996, plaintiff, a then 61-year-old retiree, was driving through the intersection of Rancho Las Palmas Drive and Highway III in Rancho Mirage. He came to a stop at a red light. When the light turned green, plaintiff proceeded into the intersection. He was struck by defendantÆs vehicle.
