Facts

Female plaintiff, a 27-year-old student alleged that she was sexually harassed by a male student while both
attended the Police Academy at Los Medanos College. On July 27, 1998, plaintiff met with the academy
director, reported the harassment and stated that she did not want to complete the program.
The director initiated an investigation through the informal complaint process, but plaintiff thought the
progress was too slow, and filed a formal written discrimination complaint in the middle of August.
Investigation of the formal complaint was completed in January 1999, and plaintiff was sent written
notification that there was insufficient evidence to support her allegations.

Other Information

The district prevailed on its motion for summary judgment. Defendant found no published case on Title IX claims for sexual harassment involving adult students. The plaintiff has appealed.
