Facts

The suit was for the invasion of privacy, conversion and negligence regarding the loss of use of a telephone. The plaintiff was a salesman who worked out of his home for the defendant Handsfree, a manufacturer of sunscreen lotions. The plaintiff used his home phone line for business. After he left the employment of the defendant, the plaintiff's calls were "call forwarded" so that the plaintiff could no longer answer his telephone at home.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff's demand was in the sum of $850,000; this was reduced at trial to $250,000. The defendants offered $5,000.
