Facts

The plaintiff, a 55-year-old fermale artist, while walking down an alley in a residential area in Pomona, tripped and fell on some buried construction material. In the course of falling over, she grasped a spiked-style fence and lacerated her right hand.

Settlement Discussions

The case settled for $42,000. The prior property owned paid $22,000; E.E.Electric Co. paid $9,950 and Verizon Communication paid $2,000 to $4,000. Various other defendants picked up the balance.

Injuries

The plaintiff sustained a deep laceration to her right dominant hand, requiring suturing, followed by two hand surgeries to repair and reconstruct the lacerated tendon. The plaintiff underwent three to four months of rehabilitation.

Other Information

Southern California Edison tendered its defense to the contractor that performed work in the area. Edison did not contribute to the settlement.
