The plaintiff, a 40-year-old marine claims specialist, alleged negligent post-partum care. The plaintiff was admitted to Alta Bates Medical Center on March 13, 2000, and had given birth to a child on March 14. The plaintiff alleged that the defendants were negligent in failing to detect a retained placenta fragment. She was discharged on March 16. On March 27, she began bleeding profusely and was admitted to Alta Bates where a D&C was performed. She subsequently developed Strep A septicemia and was treated with antibiotics. She was discharged on May 30. Honegger and Sakamoto are members of Berkeley/Orinda Women's Health.
