Facts
On May 13, 2003, the plaintiff, age 14, a student at the defendant's school in San Diego, fell through a ceiling as she walked on top of an office that she was dismantling with another student. The plaintiff thought that the ceiling was a floor and safe for walking. It was not. She found out when it collapsed under her weight.

The plaintiff demanded $1.5 million; the defendant offered $250,000.
