Facts

In 2006, defendant FusionStorm hired defendant Michael Dragoni, an employee of plaintiff Technology Integration Group (TIG), to set up a branch office in Tampa, Florida, where the two companies competed for business as technology solutions providers.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
TIG filed suit against FusionStorm, alleging misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of loyalty, and aiding and abetting all of these, among other causes of action. TIG alleged that Dragoni hired numerous TIG employees, and lured away TIG customers and prospects, engaging in unethical business practices. TIG contended that FusionStorm encouraged TIG employees to breach their statutory duties, soliciting them to work for FusionStorm.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
FusionStorm contended that TIG failed to state a cause of action or that it suffered any recoverable damages, filing counterclaims against TIG.

Result

After the jury rendered a verdict for TIG, the parties reached a settlement for $11.065 million.
