Facts

Gregorio Oropeza was riding an escalator in a Metrorail Station when he fell and sliced a portion of his hand on a sharp part of a step. Abbygail Oropeza, a minor, witnessed the whole incident. Oropeza sued Roe for the injuries he suffered.

Damages

Oropeza sought $81,158 in medical damages.

Injuries

Oropeza's right index, middle, and ring fingers were nearly amputated. He also sustained multiple tendon and nerve lacerations. He underwent surgery, including a skin graft to repair the injuries. He also received scar revision surgery. Abbygail sued for emotional distress.

Result

Roe and the MTA jointly settled the matter for $838,220 for Oropeza and $61,780 for Abbygail.
