Facts

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. (WB), the studio behind "The Hobbit" filed a complaint against The Global Asylum Inc., which attempted to release a film called "Age of the Hobbits." WB sought a preliminary injunction enjoining the distribution of any movie that incorporated the studio's "Hobbit" trademark.

Result

U.S. District Court Judge Phillip Gutierrez issued a preliminary injunction and ruled that Global Asylum's movie was likely infringing on WB's trademarks.
