Facts

Plaintiff Gregory Goods filed a civil rights complaint, pursuant to 42 U.S.C. Section 1983, against two sheriff's deputies.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff contended that while a pre-trial detainee at the Twin Towers detention facility in Los Angeles. Deputy Hood confiscated his orthopedic shoes even though he had documentation from the court authorizing the use of the shoes. He also contended that when he presented the documentation to Deputy Schoonover, he was told it was invalid and was given an order directing him where to acquire approved shoes.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendants contended that their actions were reasonable under the circumstances.

Result

Plaintiff settled with the County of Los Angeles for $24,000.
